Timeline shared for completion of Gwadar International Airport:
Islamabad: A timeline for the completion of Gwadar international airport was shared by the Civil Aviation Authority as per recent news sources. It was revealed that around $ 246 million greenfield airport is being developed on an area of 4,300 acres and this is expected to become functional by September 2023.
According to the details that were provided the terminal building of the airport will most likely be completed by the month of June in 2023 whereas the air traffic control will be streamlined by March 2023. The overall work on the airport establishment will be completed by the month of September 2023.
It is also important to note that this airport is a joint venture between Oman, China, and Pakistan, thus, the workings of the airport are most likely to be taken care of and operated by CAA Under the Open sky policy. Once the development of the airport comes to halt, it will be capable of handling both national and International Flights.
Moreover, this project is part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Mega-project among the many developmental projects that are about to be introduced. It is expected to be the biggest airport in Pakistan and to boost trade between China and Pakistan.
