Progress on two mega Projects of WASA Reviewed

Lahore: A view meeting for two mega projects has been conducted for Wasa. 

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank officials held a review meeting to analyze the progress of the two meetings.

 The meeting was conducted to review the progress of the two mega projects of Wasa. The pace of Larix Colony to Gulshan Ravi sewerage Project and Lahore’s first surface water treatment project. 

The Wasa MD had instructed the AIIB officials that the selection process for the Larix Colony Sewerage Project consulting firm would be completed this month and it would start work on the project from October of 2021. 

This online meeting was held at the Vasa Headquarters under the chairmanship of MD Syed Zahir Aziz. Officials of the AIIB expressed satisfaction over the fact that the selection process for VASA Lahore was completed in a timely manner. AIIB officials also appreciated that the VASA officials completed their tasks in a timely manner. 

Board of Directors Waste Management in Lahore has permitted the company to make several new appointments including drivers for more than 900 new vehicles. The decision was taken at the 121st meeting of the LWMC on Wednesday. This meeting chaired by Chairman Amjad Ali Awan discussed the administration and projects of LWMC and important decisions were taken. 

The Wasa MD said that the work on tender documents and project design would start once the Project consultant was finalized. The process of consulting firms for surface water projects has also been started he notified. 

A notice of interest for the consulting firms is expected to be published next week. He also notified that Section 6 had already been issued for land acquisition for the project. 

All the steps will be completed in accordance with the rules and regulations, the Wasa MD said and maintained that the agreement between the government of Pakistan and the Bank. This agreement is expected to be signed in December 2021 to secure financial resources. 

Work on Both the projects will be starting immediately after the agreement is signed. MD Wasa said and concluded that Wasa Lahore’s team of expert engineers were working on the projects.
